The Divine service of יצחק was characterized by the quality of גבורה, as indicated by the verse: "The Dread of Yitzchok" (פחד יצחק).[1]
Because יצחק served ה' through fear and awe, he could not tolerate even the slightest presence of evil in his surroundings.
As a result, he became blind—unable to see the ketores being offered by עשו's Canaanite wives, who were engaged in עבודה זרה.[2][3]
